In this Question Line video, Jason answers the following question regarding true position for multiple features:
I know that it is acceptable practice to have multiple features “stacked” onto the same feature control frame – for example a thru hole on the same axis as multiple critical c’bores may all be controlled when directly above a single positional FCF. Is there a section of Y14.5 that specifically states this is ok?
Jason walks through the example drawing, shown above, to highlight the scenario in question. This drawing includes a pattern of seven features where one feature control frame controlling position is attached to two size dimensions – the thru hole diameter and the counterbore diameter. He discusses why this is an allowable practice (dependent on the design intent) and points out that this practice is outlined in ASME Y14.5 – 2009, Section 7.4.2.
