In this Question Line video, Jason answers the following questions regarding the use of the Unless Otherwise Specified (UOS) statement on a drawing:

I am seeing prints that contain notes stating: U.O.S. Profile of a Surface 0.2(mm) with A,B,C. Does this mean that all un-dimensioned features/surfaces need to be scanned with a CMM and compared to the CAD model? Would this have to be recorded on a First Article Inspection Report?

In this video, Jason explains that the Unless Otherwise Specified statement can be put on a drawing in a variety of ways, but the most common is to have it listed in the title block to identify tolerances that are not directly applied in the field of view. He walks through an example where the title block contains an Unspecified Tolerances note for Profile of a Surface for all surfaces, also discussing how the profiles could be checked and when they would need to be reported on a First Article Inspection Report.
