In this Question Line video, Jason answers the following question regarding how to report composite position:

My question relates to the way to RECORD results for composite position, notably the FRTZF. If the FRTZF represents a ‘Go/No Go’ condition, isn’t there a single result? I can’t find any information on this part of the topic. Thank you.

In this video, Jason explains how to report composite position for a pattern of holes. Using the simple part shown above, he walks through a composite position control applied to a pattern of four holes, where the upper feature control frame—the Pattern Locating Tolerance Zone Framework (PLTZF)—locates the pattern relative to the datum reference frame, and the lower frame—the Feature Relating Tolerance Zone Framework (FRTZF)—refines the location and orientation of the holes relative to one another.

Jason references ASME Y14.45-2021, Measurement Data Reporting, and discusses the challenges associated with reporting inspection results for the lower framework (FRTZF). He explores different inspection methods, including functional gaging, and the data those methods generate for reporting.
